My Coaching Story

Did you know Beachbody Coaches get a 25% discount on all Beachbody workout programs and nutritional supplements like Shakeology? It’s one of the best benefits and the primary reason I became a Beachbody Coach in 2008. I had no interest in making money and honestly, didn’t have enough confidence in myself to really take advantage of the full business opportunity. But I was a college kid and I was broke but I wanted to stay in shape (and lose the Freshman 15 that had crept up to 25lbs by my Junior year). So I used a variety of Beachbody workout programs (including P90X, Insanity, Turbo Fire, etc) and Shakeology and was content knowing that I was getting a great deal on all of this awesome health and fitness stuff.

When I graduated college, I got a great corporate job in Marketing that I still have and love. I also bartended on nights and weekends. Then in 2012 I got married to this great guy who had a dream to own a landscape business – we decided to go for it. I upped my bartending hours and continued working as we launched Murray’s Landscape Services (shameless self promotion). Then in August 2014 we had a baby. A baby changes everything. I could no longer bartend but our family relied on that income, so were did I turn? Yep – Beachbody Coaching.

Here’s where the story gets good.

Right there, sitting in front of me all along was the Beachbody Coaching Opportunity. I was still self-conscious about helping others get fit when I could hardly motivate myself half the time. I wasn’t sure how I was going to make the coaching opportunity successful, but I knew I had to. When my maternity leave ended just 7 weeks after my daughter was born, I knew my end goal was to grow a business that would allow me to eventually leave my corporate job and stay home with her, but my short term goal was to replace my bartending income.

I started sharing my story and encouraging others in their fitness goals. That’s when I realized I should have started this years ago. Helping and encouraging others to reach their goals is the most rewarding job. Not only have I replaced my part-time bartending income, but the snowball effect is in full force. Literally, every aspect of my life has improved. I think that’s what happens when you find your passion. I’m not going to lie- it’s hard, sometimes I get discouraged, and sometimes I want to quit… but then I remember why I’m doing this. Of course I appreciate the extra income and I absolutely love helping and motivating others; but the real reason is the little girl than made me start.

This is my “why.” This is why I work hard, this is why I prioritize my health, this is why I try to get better everyday.  I know she’s watching and I want to set the best example I can. I don’t want her to see  me quit. I want her to know she can do anything. I want her to know she can dream big too!
